Fans of art, wine and mid-century modern furniture will be thrilled to know the RiverHouse by Bespoke Collection exists. The entire space is a gallery where all pieces are available for purchase and you can enjoy a tasting of Blackbird Vineyards’ fabulous wines amongst the art. People who love great wine seem to also appreciate the other finer things in life like art and music, so the intersection of art and wine here is fantastic.
We were welcomed by Melissa who sat down with us to guide us through our tasting. We immediately felt at home with her and appreciated the personal walk-through of the space and Blackbird’s wines.
We loved how every wine in their portfolio told a story. For example, their only white wine is named Dissonance – calling out the unique offering of a white wine among the reds. The name Blackbird comes from the fact that “Merlot” is thought to be derived from the French word “merle”, or black bird. Their flagship wine, Illustration, is of course a Merlot blend with Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon.
The experience at Blackbird is very relaxed and offers you time to enjoy each wine. This is not a place to come in and get a quick tasting – it’s a place to sit, savor the wine and enjoy the art. The robust red wine portfolio and great location in downtown Napa make it a great last stop for a day in wine country. The tasting room is situated on the Riverwalk so if you are so inclined, you are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine outdoors overlooking the river. We first visited around the holidays and got to enjoy the Riverwalk lit up with Christmas lights. We loved our visit to Blackbird and know you will too!
