When we started our winery tour at Hall, we got some history of the winery and family, then ate Merlot grapes right off the vine which is certainly not a bad way to start! The property is absolutely pristine and much of it feels like an art museum - especially once you arrive in the tasting room. Even the production facility had giant, colorful pinwheels hanging overhead spinning. It’s a grandiose, art-inspired family-owned winery (say that five times fast).
After walking around the property and production, our group was led into a space resembling a conference room but with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the winery where we did a tasting and learned even more about their varietals. If you notice a bottle of Hall Wine having a picture of art on it - it’s actually a piece art that the Hall Family owns. It’s sophisticated and modern, yet still has a personalized touch.
The wines you’ll try at a tasting at Hall are actually only available on property (you won’t find them in a store) - making it a special experience. A favorite story from our tasting was told around the Darwin Red - it’s 100% Syrah & is named after the town of Darwin, Australia. Kathryn & Craig Hall had to make an emergency landing of their small plane (that lost a wheel!) in that town and immediately after successfully doing so, they ordered a glass of wine (as one does).
We are truly big fans of family-owned wineries. There’s something so inspiring about being in such a grand space that began with one person’s idea and still has remained within the family as it has grown. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did!

Hot tips: Reservations needed for 6+. Drink as much Cab as you can. If Cab isn’t your thing, ask about their Zinfandel lounge. A Tour (with a tasting of 4 wines) and a Tasting (with 5 wines) are the same price. If you have time go for the tour!
