Reeve is arguably one of the most peaceful and cool wineries we’ve visited. Tucked away in Dry Creek Valley, Reeve’s grounds are private and quite quiet. When you get inside, you immediately noticed the impeccable interior design - it’s modern, cozy and has that cool California vibe all in one.
If you’re paying attention as you walk to the patio, you pass a sign sporting a Mark Twain quote - “America is built on a tilt and everything loose slides to California.” This place is full of beautiful little details like that, the wool blankets to keep warm until the sun comes out and delicate edible flowers on the cheese & charcuterie plate that you receive to kick off your tasting. It’s a winery that was clearly created with care and style.
Owners (and husband and wife team) Noah and Kelly are no strangers to a great winery with cool design. They were co-founders if one of our other favorite stops, Banshee. They now focus on Reeve full time, but Kelly’s design and Noah’s wines are foundational elements of Banshee as well.
We also love the story behind the wine bottle labels. The name Reeve is shared with one of their sons, and their other son Remy is also included in the form on a bear on the front of each bottle. The bear symbolizes not only California, where they live and produce their wine, but Noah and Kelly’s home state of Missouri which also has a bear on its flag. On the back of the bottles you’ll find lyrics from iconic musicians printed in a delicate font, which we loved.
Reeve’s patio overlooking vineyards and shady trees is extremely relaxing. We really enjoyed our conversation with their staff and love learning about each of their wines. If you’re into great music, wonderful wine, friendly conversation and an intimate tasting experience, Reeve is an excellent choice.
