There are so many wonderful things to say about this stop. The thing we love most is how much Scribe makes you appreciate California - from the views to the wine to the fresh meal to the chill people. This winery celebrates the land and the bounty that comes from it.
Scribe's property is breathtaking. A palm tree lined road leads to their historic hacienda. While they’ve modernized the space slightly, and added a lot of house plants (we love house plants), we admired how they’ve left the building pretty raw, showing the history and character of the original space.
The entire building is open air, with tables placed in the middle of each room for tastings. In the warmer months, the front patio is a show stopper, lined with huge umbrellas, cacti and string lights. The small kitchen also opens up to this outdoor space.
Tastings at the Hacienda include a small lunch from their kitchen. Their goal in serving you these sustainable, local foods is to balance out your stomach after drinking wine and really make your body feel good when you leave. They use a lot of ingredients from their gardens which are usually visible from where you’re sitting.
Then of course, there is the wine! The winemakers at Scribe are focused on the natural elements that contribute to the wines - primarily the soil. You won't see every type of wine on their list, but the ones that are included (we tasted a Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet) are grown thoughtfully throughout the region.
Overall, Scribe is an incredibly dreamy stop. Their tasting fee is a little higher than others, but you do get a delicious meal with it. We also really love having a light meal with our wine and find the extra cash totally worth it. They have special chefs cooking in their kitchen, so be sure to check their social media for unique events.
