VML Wine sits on a remarkably unique property with so much to explore. There are two wineries, seemingly endless seating areas, some farm animals and even a small river with salmon in it. This is definitely not a place you go to simply have a taste of wine and move on. Don’t get us wrong - that's an option, but we guarantee once you start strolling around the grounds you’ll find something that'll strike your interest and keep you here a little longer than expected.
To talk about VML Wine, we first have to chat about it’s sister winery (which shares the property), Truett Hurst. The story goes, Virginia Marie Lambrix was a longtime winemaker at Truett Hurst but had a growing desire to make wine in a different style than Truett Hurst’s approach. She convinced one of her partners at Truett Hurst to take a chance with a Russian River style Pinot Noir, and VML was born.
The tasting room itself opened in 2018 and is super stylish. With hanging plants, velvet sofas and engraved wood tables; there are a lot of small, gorgeous details to take in and appreciate.
Virginia’s personal touch is all over the winery. The intricate, artistic labels are created by her husband. Their tagline, “a bottle can hold the earth, moon and stars,” can be seen everywhere, from the labels to the tables, to the earthy color palette.
While at VML, you can enjoy tastes of their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rosé and even a sparkling Blanc de Noir made in collaboration with another one of our favorite stops, Iron Horse! You can also pop over to Truett Hurst’s tasting room and outdoor patio, or perhaps stumble upon a secret garden spot to picnic. The options are endless and we guarantee you’ll enjoy your time there as much as we did.
